Phylloclade is modified stem. It is thick,fleshy modified for the function of photosynthesis as well as to store water. Phylloclade becomes very important modification in xerophytic conditions as it helps to meet the water requirements of plants in such a water scarce environment.It can bear leaves (usually spiny),branches etc. Also,their growth is unlimited.
