Indian Brand of Socialism - Democratic Socialism

Democratic Socialism is the Indian brand of socialism that was adopted by the Indian National Congress after India's independence in 1947. This model of socialism advocates for a mixed economy, where the state and private sector coexist and work together for the betterment of society.

Characteristics of Democratic Socialism:

1. Mixed Economy: Unlike pure socialism, democratic socialism advocates for a mixed economy, where the state and private sector coexist.

2. Social Welfare: Democratic socialism aims to provide social welfare for all citizens, including education, health care, and employment opportunities.

3. Redistribution of Wealth: Democratic socialism advocates for the redistribution of wealth to reduce income inequality and provide equal opportunities for all.

4. Decentralization of Power: Democratic socialism aims to decentralize power and give more autonomy to local communities.

And in indian socialism... social property and private property (capitalism) are co-exist.
