As a result of 25% hike in the price of rice per kg, a person is able ...
Given:

- A 25% hike in the price of rice per kg
- A person is able to purchase 6 kg less rice for Rs. 1,200

To find:

- The original price of rice per kg

Solution:

Let the original price of rice per kg be x

After the price hike, the new price of rice per kg will be:

x + 0.25x = 1.25x

According to the problem, the person is able to purchase 6 kg less rice for Rs. 1,200.

Let y be the quantity of rice the person was able to purchase before the price hike.

Then,

- Before the price hike, the cost of y kg of rice was xy rupees
- After the price hike, the cost of (y - 6) kg of rice is 1200 rupees

We can now write an equation based on the above information:

xy = 1.25x(y - 6) + 1200

Simplifying this equation, we get:

xy = 1.25xy - 7.5x + 1200

0.25xy = 7.5x - 1200

xy = 30x

y = 30

Therefore, the person was able to purchase 30 kg of rice before the price hike.

Now, we can calculate the original price of rice per kg:

xy = 30x

30x = 1200

x = 40

Hence, the original price of rice per kg was Rs. 40.

As a result of 25% hike in the price of rice per kg, a person is able ...
Expenditure = Rs. 1200
Change in price = 25% increase
Change in quantity = 6 kg less bought

Calculations -
Let person X buy 6kg rice for Rs. 1200
Now,
New price - 1200*(125/100) = 1500
Hike lead to reduce the quantity (X-6) kg
Difference of Rs. 300 = difference in quantity 6kg
=> 6 kg = 300
=> 1 kg = 50
Rs. 50 is hiked priced and original price is asked
=> 125% = 5
=> 100% = 50*(100/125) = 40
The original price of rice per kg is Rs. 40
