MIRRORS(1) The reflecting surface of the concave mirror is bulged inwards. But the reflecting surface of the convex mirror is bulged outwards.(2) Concave mirror produces real and inverted images (except when the object is placed between pole and focus. When the object is placed between F and P, concave mirror produces virtual and erect image). But the convex mirror always produces virtual and erect images.(3) The image formed by the concave mirror may be enlarged or diminished, according to the position of the object. The image formed by the convex mirror will be always diminished. LENSESConvex lenses are curved outward and they cause light that goes trough it to converge or concentrate on one point. Think of a magnifying glass that is used to burn something. The light that goes through it concentrates on a point so you can burn things. Concave lenses are curved inward and when light goes through it diverges or spreads out. Think of a flashlight. The light comes from a small bulb goes through it and spreads out to a bigger beam on the other side.Hope this helps,

Introduction:
Concave and convex mirrors are two types of spherical mirrors, which have curved surfaces. They differ in their shape and the way they reflect light. Understanding their differences is essential to comprehend their properties and applications.

Differences between Concave and Convex Mirrors:

1. Shape:
- Concave Mirror: It has a curved surface that bulges inward, resembling a cave or the inner surface of a sphere.
- Convex Mirror: It has a curved surface that bulges outward, resembling the outer surface of a sphere.

2. Reflection of Light:
- Concave Mirror: It converges incoming parallel rays of light after reflection, focusing them at a specific point known as the focal point. This type of mirror is also called a converging mirror.
- Convex Mirror: It diverges incoming parallel rays of light after reflection, causing them to spread out. The reflected rays appear to originate from a common point behind the mirror, known as the virtual focal point. This type of mirror is also called a diverging mirror.

3. Image Formation:
- Concave Mirror: Depending on the position of the object, concave mirrors can form both real and virtual images. Real images are formed when the object is placed beyond the focal point, whereas virtual images are formed when the object is placed between the mirror and the focal point.
- Convex Mirror: Convex mirrors always form virtual images, regardless of the position of the object. These virtual images are smaller, upright, and located behind the mirror.

4. Magnification:
- Concave Mirror: The magnification produced by concave mirrors can vary. When the object is placed beyond the focal point, the image formed is real, inverted, and magnified. When the object is placed between the mirror and the focal point, the image formed is virtual, upright, and magnified.
- Convex Mirror: Convex mirrors always produce reduced, virtual, and upright images. The magnification is less than 1.

5. Field of View:
- Concave Mirror: Due to its converging nature, concave mirrors have a limited field of view. They can only reflect light from a narrower angle.
- Convex Mirror: Convex mirrors have a wider field of view. They can reflect light from a broader angle.

6. Applications:
- Concave Mirror: Concave mirrors are commonly used in telescopes, headlights of vehicles, and makeup mirrors, as they can focus light to form real images.
- Convex Mirror: Convex mirrors are used as rear-view mirrors in vehicles, security mirrors in stores, and in street surveillance, as they provide a wider field of view and smaller virtual images.

Conclusion:
In summary, concave and convex mirrors differ in their shape, reflection of light, image formation, magnification, field of view, and applications. Concave mirrors converge light, while convex mirrors diverge light. Understanding these differences helps in utilizing their unique properties for various practical purposes.
