Consider the following statements regarding the Ramsar Convention.1. ...
The correct answer is option 'C' - Both 1 and 2.

Explanation:
The Ramsar Convention, also known as the Convention on Wetlands, is an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands. It was signed on 2nd February 1971 and entered into force on 21st December 1975. The convention is named after the city of Ramsar in Iran, where the treaty was signed.

The Ramsar Convention provides a framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources. It aims to halt the worldwide loss of wetlands and to conserve and sustainably manage those that remain.

As for the second statement, the Asan Conservation Reserve in Dehradun is indeed the first wetland from Uttarakhand to be recognized by the Ramsar convention. The Asan Conservation Reserve was designated as a Ramsar site on 19th August 2005. It is located at the confluence of the Asan and Yamuna rivers and covers an area of about 4.4 square kilometers. The reserve is known for its rich biodiversity and serves as an important habitat for migratory waterbirds.

In summary, both statements are correct. The Ramsar Convention was signed on 2nd February 1971, and the Asan Conservation Reserve in Dehradun is the first wetland from Uttarakhand to be recognized by the convention.
