Ratio of speed of two trains = 2:5

Ratio of distance travelled by two trains = 5:9


To Find:

Ratio of time taken by two trains


Solution:

Let the speeds of two trains be 2x and 5x.

Let the distances travelled by two trains be 5y and 9y.

We know that,

Speed = Distance/Time

Therefore,

Time = Distance/Speed

Time taken by the first train = (5y)/(2x) = (5/2)*(y/x)

Time taken by the second train = (9y)/(5x) = (9/5)*(y/x)

Ratio of time taken by two trains = (5/2)/(9/5) = 25/18

Therefore, the ratio of time taken by two trains is 25:18.
