- Total number of students in the class = 90
- Girls are twice that of boys
- Z is ranked fourteenth from the top
- There are 10 girls ahead of Z
To find: Number of girl students behind Z
Solution:
1. Let's assume the number of boys in the class to be 'x'
2. As per the given information, the number of girls will be twice that of boys i.e. 2x
3. Total number of students in the class = number of boys + number of girls
=> 90 = x + 2x
=> 3x = 90
=> x = 30
Therefore, the number of boys in the class = 30 and the number of girls = 60
4. Z is ranked fourteenth from the top and there are 10 girls ahead of Z
=> The number of boys ahead of Z = 14 - 10 = 4
5. Therefore, the number of students behind Z = Total number of students - Z's rank
=> Number of students behind Z = 90 - 14 = 76
6. Out of these 76 students, we need to find the number of girls behind Z
=> Number of girls behind Z = Total number of girls - Girls ahead of Z
=> Number of girls behind Z = 60 - 10 = 50
Hence, the correct answer is option (B) 50.

=> Number of girls behind Z = Total number of girls - Girls ahead of Z
=> Number of girls behind Z = 60 - 10 = 50
