Goals/Aspirations of Rain-fed Farmers

Rain-fed farmers are those who depend solely on rainfall for the growth of their crops. They face a lot of challenges due to the unpredictable nature of rainfall. Hence, their goals and aspirations revolve around ensuring sufficient rainfall at the right time to ensure a successful crop yield.

Aspirations of Rain-fed Farmers:

1. Sufficient Rainfall: Rain-fed farmers aspire to receive sufficient rainfall during the cropping season to ensure healthy crop growth. They rely on rainfall as they do not have access to irrigation facilities. Hence, their primary goal is to receive enough rainfall to ensure a good harvest.

2. Timely Rainfall: Apart from sufficient rainfall, rain-fed farmers also aspire to receive rainfall at the right time. Delayed rainfall can cause a delay in planting, which can affect the entire cropping season. Hence, timely rainfall is crucial for the success of their farming.

3. Crop Diversification: Rain-fed farmers aspire to diversify their crop cultivation to reduce the risk of crop failure. They often grow multiple crops in a single field to ensure a steady income source.

4. Affordable Inputs: Farmers aspire to access affordable inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides. They often face challenges in accessing quality inputs at reasonable prices.
