A short 3-φ line with an impedance of (6 + j8) Ω per line has sending ...
Solution:

Given:

The impedance per line, Z = (6+j8) Ω
The sending end voltage, V_s = 120 kV
The receiving end voltage, V_r = 110 kV
The power factor, pf = 0.9

To find:

The active power, P and the reactive power, Q at the receiving end.

Calculation:

1. Calculation of Line Current:
The line current can be calculated using the formula:

I = (V_s - V_r)/(√3 * Z)

Substituting the values, we get:

I = (120 - 110)/(√3 * (6+j8)) = 505.6 ∠ -18.43° A

2. Calculation of Receiving End Power:
The receiving end power can be calculated using the formula:

S = √3 * V_r * I * pf

Substituting the values, we get:

S = √3 * 110 * 505.6 * 0.9 = 331.7 + j223.4 MVA

3. Calculation of Active and Reactive Power:
The active power, P = S * pf = 331.7 MW
The reactive power, Q = √(S^2 - P^2) = 223.4 MVAr

Therefore, the active power and reactive power at the receiving end are 331.7 MW and 223.4 MVAr respectively.
