  • b)
    Quantity 1 < quantity="" />
  • c)
    Quantity 1 < quantity="" />
  • d)
    Quantity 1 > Quantity 2
  • e)
    Quantity 1 > Quantity 2
Correct answer is option 'C'. Can you explain this answer?
Verified Answer
In the following question, two quantities numbered I and II are given...
According to question-
(1/P) + (1/Q) + (1/R) = (3/32) ........ (1)
Quantity 1:
R = 48 days
From equation (1)-
(1/P) + (1/Q) + (1/48) = (3/32)
(1/P) + (1/Q) = (3/32) - (1/48)
(1/P) + (1/Q) = (9 - 2)/96
(1/P) + (1/Q) = 7/96
Time taken by P and Q together to finish the task = 96/7 = 13(5/7) days
Quantity 2:
Q = 24 days
From equation (1)-
(1/P) + (1/24) + (1/R) = (3/32)
(1/P) + (1/R) = (3/32) - (1/24)
(1/P) + (1/R) = (9 - 4)/96
(1/P) + (1/R) = 5/96
Time taken by P and R together to finish the task = 96/5 = 19.2 days
Hence, Quantity 1 < quantity="" />
