Directions: In each of the following questions, six sentences are given, each of which is divided into four parts and then jumbled. You need to rearrange each of the sentences to form meaningful sentences and then arrange them to form a meaningful paragraph. BAD is a set; 'United states' will require the article 'the' before it and that is mentioned in A. The sentence says that "since the second world war, China, Russia, and the United States have repeatedly swapped partners."
Q- The correct order for Q is DBAC. The sentence says that "it is the love triangle of global politics."
R- The correct order for R is BADC. BA forms a pair; a noun ('country' in this case) will follow the definite article. DC is a pair and it talks about the country paying a price by being 'something' (mentioned in C). The sentence says that "in each case, the country that was left on its own has always seemed to pay a price, by being stretched militarily and diplomatically."
S- The correct order for S is ABDC. A introduces and talks about a 'trade war' and B and D in that order mention the countries involved in the trade war. The 'to' in D will be followed by the base form of the verb 'spark' in C and the sentence says that "the simmering trade war between the United States and China has threatened to spark a full-blown currency war."
T- The correct order for T is ADCB. 'Was' in D will be followed by a past form of the verb which in this case is 'followed' in C. CB is a pair according to the chronological order of events. A introduces the subject, hence it will be the first in the arrangement. U- The correct order for U is DABC. 'Between' in D will be followed by two nouns which are mentioned in A and B in that order. The sentence says that "today's pairing, between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, was cemented in 2014 after Russia annexed Crimea."
While solving para-jumbles, follow the general to specific rule, this means that you should move from an introductory sentence to one that gives the details. Try to find a sentence that introduces a topic or person or idea. This will be the opening sentence. You could also try to find the closing sentence; this sentence will generally be a concluding statement. It will not introduce a new idea but conclude what has already been mentioned. The next thing which you should do is to make mandatory pairs. Mandatory pairs are sentences that will necessarily come together and they are the key to solving para-jumble questions.
TU is a mandatory pair; T talks about the visit of Richard Nixon followed by the visit of Mikhail Gorbachev and U then goes on to talk about today's pairing of Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. P will precede the pair TU as P talks about how China, Russia, and the United States have repeatedly swapped partners and T and U together provide instances of when that happened. Q is the best choice for an opening sentence as it is a general and a good introductory sentence. QPTU so far is the correct order of these four sentences; Q talks about a 'love triangle' and P mentions the three countries which are part of that 'triangle'. R is best suited to be the last sentence as it seems like a concluding statement and it does not introduce anything new, rather it sums up the paragraph and arrives at a conclusion. QPTUR is the correct final arrangement of the sentences.
