The Territory of India and Union of India
The 'Territory of India' is a broader expression compared to the 'Union of India' as it comprises not only the states but also the union territories. The Constitution of India defines the Territory of India as including:
• The territories of the states
• The union territories specified in the First Schedule
• Any other territory that may be acquired by India
Territorial Extent of Union Territories
The Constitution of India does not mention the territorial extent of the union territories. Instead, it empowers the Parliament to make laws for the administration of union territories.
