Which of the following depicts the correct pathway of transport of sp...
The male reproductive cell is called sperm. They are produced in the seminiferous tubules in testicles. The sperm from seminiferous tubules of testis moves into vasa efferentia through rete testis. Epididymis lies along the surface of the testis. Vasa efferentia opens into epididymis and then leads to vas deferens . Vas deferens then enters the abdominopelvic cavity and a ejaculatory duct is formed from the seminal vesicle which opens into urethra.
Hence the sperms are transported to epididymis from rete testis through efferent ductules . When there is smooth muscle contraction, the matured sperms are transported into vas deferens .

Which of the following depicts the correct pathway of transport of sp...
The correct pathway of transport of sperms is option B: Rete testis - Efferent ductules - Epididymis - Vas deferens. Let's understand this pathway in detail:

1. Rete testis: The rete testis is a network of tubules located in the testes. It receives spermatozoa from the seminiferous tubules, which are the site of sperm production. The rete testis acts as a collecting system, where spermatozoa are transported to the efferent ductules.

2. Efferent ductules: The efferent ductules are small tubes that connect the rete testis to the epididymis. There are about 12 to 20 efferent ductules in each testis. Their main function is to transport spermatozoa from the rete testis to the epididymis. They also absorb fluid and reabsorb some nutrients from the fluid, which helps in the maturation of spermatozoa.

3. Epididymis: The epididymis is a tightly coiled tubular structure located on the posterior side of each testis. It consists of three parts: the head (caput), body (corpus), and tail (cauda). The efferent ductules transport spermatozoa into the head of the epididymis. Inside the epididymis, spermatozoa undergo maturation and gain the ability to swim and fertilize an egg. The epididymis also stores the mature spermatozoa until ejaculation.

4. Vas deferens: The vas deferens, also known as the ductus deferens, is a muscular tube that connects the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct. It carries mature spermatozoa from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct during ejaculation. The vas deferens is responsible for propelling the spermatozoa through peristaltic contractions of its muscular wall.

Overall, the correct pathway of transport of sperms is from the rete testis to the efferent ductules, then to the epididymis, and finally to the vas deferens. This pathway ensures the maturation, storage, and transport of spermatozoa from the testes to the urethra for ejaculation.
