Restaurant looked at the clock on the wall and sighed. It was already 9 pm and the dinner rush had finally come to an end. She had been on her feet for over 10 hours, managing the staff, greeting customers, and making sure everything ran smoothly.
She took a deep breath and walked around the restaurant to check on the remaining customers. Most of them had already paid their bills and left, but there were still a few tables with people chatting and enjoying their meals.
Suddenly, she noticed a couple at the back of the restaurant, arguing loudly. The woman was in tears, while the man was shouting at her. The manager quickly made her way to their table, trying to diffuse the situation.
"Excuse me, is everything okay here?" she asked, trying to sound calm.
The man glared at her, "Mind your own business, we're just having a conversation."
The woman looked up at her with pleading eyes, "Please, can you help me? He's been drinking and he won't stop yelling at me."
The manager knew she had to act quickly. She politely asked the man to calm down, but he refused. She then decided to call the police, as she didn't want the situation to escalate any further.
Within minutes, two police officers arrived and escorted the man out of the restaurant. The manager sat down with the woman, offering her a glass of water and a sympathetic ear.
After a few minutes of talking, the woman thanked the manager and left the restaurant, looking much calmer than before. The manager felt relieved that she had been able to help, but also saddened by the fact that domestic violence was still a prevalent issue in society.
She made a mental note to offer training to her staff on how to handle such situations in the future, and to always be vigilant of their customers' well-being.
