Direction: In the questions given below, a statement is given followe...
Implicit Assumptions in the Statement:

I. Country ‘A’ desires to diffuse current tension and restore peace with country B.
The statement clearly mentions that Country ‘A’ would explore all channels to diffuse current tensions with country ‘B’ and bring peace on its borders. This implies that Country ‘A’ desires to diffuse the tension and restore peace with country ‘B’. The statement would not make sense if Country ‘A’ did not have the desire to resolve the tension and restore peace. Therefore, assumption I is implicit in the statement.

II. It is desirable to use more than one channel when complex issues are to be settled amicably.
The statement does not explicitly mention anything about using more than one channel. However, it can be inferred that when the spokesperson of Country ‘A’ mentions that they would explore all channels, it indicates that they believe using more than one channel is desirable. The use of the word ‘all’ suggests that they are willing to try multiple approaches to resolve the tension with country ‘B’. This implies that it is desirable to use more than one channel when complex issues are to be settled amicably. Therefore, assumption II is also implicit in the statement.

Conclusion:
Both assumption I and assumption II are implicit in the statement. Country ‘A’ desires to diffuse current tension and restore peace with country ‘B’, and it is desirable to use more than one channel when complex issues are to be settled amicably.

It is clear from the statement that both the assumptions are implicit. The statement clearly implies the first assumption. Again, if it is not desirable to use more than one channel to resolve complete issues why such a statement would have been made. Hence (c).
