Seven poles A, B, C, D, E, F and G are put in the same order starting with A, in such a way that the distance between the first two poles A and B is 10 m and the distance between every successive pair of poles decreases by 1 m.
If a monkey hops from pole G to pole C, how much distance will it cover?
  • a)
    19 m
  • b)
    22 m
  • c)
    26 m

Directions: Read the given information to answer the following questi...
Distance between each pair of poles
- The distance between the first two poles A and B is 10 m.
- The distance between the second and third poles B and C is 9 m.
- The distance between the third and fourth poles C and D is 8 m.
- The distance between the fourth and fifth poles D and E is 7 m.
- The distance between the fifth and sixth poles E and F is 6 m.
- The distance between the sixth and seventh poles F and G is 5 m.

Finding the total distance covered by the monkey from pole G to pole C
To find the distance covered by the monkey from pole G to pole C, we need to add up the distances between the poles G and F, F and E, E and D, and D and C.

- The distance between poles G and F is 5 m.
- The distance between poles F and E is 6 m.
- The distance between poles E and D is 7 m.
- The distance between poles D and C is 8 m.

Adding up the distances:
5 m + 6 m + 7 m + 8 m = 26 m.

Therefore, the monkey will cover a distance of 26 m from pole G to pole C. Hence, the correct answer is option C, 26 m.

Directions: Read the given information to answer the following questi...
Distance from pole A to pole G is (10 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 5) m = 45 m
Distance between poles G and C = Total distance - Distance from pole A to pole C
Distance from pole A to pole C = (10 + 9) m = 19 m
Thus, distance from pole G to pole C = (45 - 19) m = 26 m
