It was planned to send 60 tons of relief material to a flood-affected area through a certain number of helicopters. However, due to technical reasons, each helicopter could take 0.5 ton less of relief material than was initially planned. In order to supply all the material, four additional helicopters were required. How many helicopters were initially planned to be used?

It was planned to send 60 tons of relief material to a flood-affected...
Let the initial no. of helicopters be x and relief material per helicopter be y.
Then xy = 60 and also xy = (x + 4)(y - 0.5)
4y - 0.5x = 2
Using xy = 60 & so y = 60/x
240/x = 0.5x = 2
We get a quadratic equation, x2 + 4x - 480 = 0
Solving it we get x = -24 or 20.
The value of x must be positive & so x = 20
Hence, there were 20 helicopters which were initially planned.
Hence, the correct option is (d).

It was planned to send 60 tons of relief material to a flood-affected...
Given:
- The relief material planned to be sent to a flood-affected area is 60 tons.
- Due to technical reasons, each helicopter could take 0.5 ton less of relief material than initially planned.
- Four additional helicopters were required to supply all the material.

To find:
- The number of helicopters initially planned to be used.

Assumption:
- The number of helicopters initially planned is represented by 'x'.

Approach:
1. Calculate the total relief material that can be carried by 'x' helicopters initially.
2. Calculate the total relief material that can be carried by 'x + 4' helicopters after the technical issues.
3. Set up an equation using the given information and solve for 'x'.

Solution:

1. Calculate the total relief material that can be carried by 'x' helicopters initially:
- Each helicopter can carry 0.5 tons less than initially planned.
- So, the relief material carried by each helicopter = (initial planned relief material - 0.5)
- The total relief material carried by 'x' helicopters initially = x * (initial planned relief material - 0.5)
- Given that the total relief material sent is 60 tons, we can write the equation as:
x * (initial planned relief material - 0.5) = 60

2. Calculate the total relief material that can be carried by 'x + 4' helicopters after the technical issues:
- Each helicopter can carry 0.5 tons less than initially planned.
- So, the relief material carried by each helicopter = (initial planned relief material - 0.5)
- The total relief material carried by 'x + 4' helicopters after the technical issues = (x + 4) * (initial planned relief material - 0.5)
- Given that the total relief material sent is 60 tons, we can write the equation as:
(x + 4) * (initial planned relief material - 0.5) = 60

3. Set up an equation using the given information and solve for 'x':
- Equating the two equations derived above, we have:
x * (initial planned relief material - 0.5) = (x + 4) * (initial planned relief material - 0.5)
- Simplifying the equation, we get:
x = x + 4
- Subtracting 'x' from both sides, we get:
0 = 4
- This is not possible, so there must be an error in the question or the options provided.

Conclusion:
- The given question does not have a valid solution based on the provided information.

Direction: Read the following information and answer the question given below.- Ambani, Premji, Hinduja and Mittal started a business by investing initially in the ratio 5: 9: 7: 6 and after 1st year Premji withdrew 33(1/3) % of his initial investment.- After 1st year Hinduja, Ambani and Mittal invested additional amounts in the ratio 7:12:15.- Additional investments of Ambani after 1st year was 75% of his additional investment after 2nd year and the additional investment of Premji after 2nd year was equal to his initial investment and after 2nd year Hinduja and Mittal withdrew some parts of their investment in the ratio 4:5.- After 3rd year the ratio of additional investments of Ambani and Premji was 3:2 and Hinduja and Mittal withdrew parts of their investments in the ratio 1:2 respectively and they continued business at any point of time they shared profit in the ratio of investment considering time of investment. The total initial investment of all the given four persons together was Rs.27000 and the ratio of amount withdrew by Premji at the end of 1st year to the additional investment by Ambani at the end of 1st year is 1:2. If the additional investment of Hinduja at the end of 1st year is 75% more than the amount withdrew by him at the end of 2nd year and additional investment of Ambani at the end of 3rd year was half of his investment at the end of 1st year also amount withdrew by Mittal at the end of 3rd year is equal to the additional investment of Premji at the end of 3rd year, then in what ratio will Ambani, Premji, Hinduja and Mittal will share the profit at the end of 5 years?

Group QuestionAnswer the following question based on the information given below.A company has 2100 employees in all with male and female employees being in the ratio 19:16. Employees who come to office from the eastern or western part of the city use either the Metro trains or Local trains. The office also provides a bus service for people who stay far away and some employees use their own vehicles to commute to work. All the employees are classified as technical or nontechnical staff. 14% of the total employees use their own vehicles, with the ratio of the technical to non-technical staff in this group being 2 : 1. Of the remaining employees, one-third travel by Metro trains. The number of females who use their own vehicles and are technical staff is one-third of the number of males who are technical staff and use their own vehicles; as well as equal to the number of males who are non-technical staff and use their own vehicles. 20% of the total female staff is non-technical and uses the Local trains, which is equal to 80% of the female staff that is technical and uses Local trains. Of all the male employees who prefer to use the office bus, 123 are non-technical staff. The count of nontechnical male staff exceeds the technical male staff by four. The number of employees that use Local trains is three times the number of employees who use the office bus. One-seventh of the office bus users are non-technical female staff. The ratio of males to females who are technical staff and use office bus is 5 : 4.The number of male technical staff who use Local trains exceeds the male nontechnical staff using the same mode of transport by 11. 136 non-technical female staff use the Metro trains.Q.What is the difference between the number of male technical staff who travel bytrains andnumber of female non-technical staff who do not travel byLocal trains?
