Looking at the second table, it can be said that 20% of the employees who had an Excellent grade were from the Marketing department while from the third table we get that only 10% of the employees of the Marketing department had an Excellent grade.
20% of Excellent = 10% of Marketing.
Excellent Marketing = 1/2
Similarly the ratios of the number of employees who got Excellent grade and when compared to that in Finance, when compared to that in Administration and when compared to that in Production departments would be 1 : 1, 1 : 3 and 1 : 4 respectively.
Ratio of the number of employees in Marketing, Finance, Administration and Production is 2 . 1 : 3 : 4.
Similarly 32% of the employees who obtained the grade 'Good' were in Marketing while 40% of the employees in the Marketing department obtained the grade 'Good'.
32% of good = 40% of Marketing
Marketing Good = 45. Marketing Good = 45. Similarly the ratios of employees in the Marketing department when compared to that who got the grade.
Average and when compared to that who got the grade Poor are 2 : 5 and 4 : 3 respectively.
Ratio of employees who got grades Excellent, Good, Average and Poor = 2 : 5 : 10 : 3
Now, let the number of employees with their grade as Excellent be 2k. Therefore, the number of employees with other grades are 5k, 10k and 3k. Similarly, by comparing with above ratios, the number of employees in different departments are 4k, 2k, 6k and 8k.
This is tabulated as follows:
Assume number of employees in the company is 2000.
Number of employees in the Marketing Section = 400.
Number of employees who were graded Good' = 500
32% of all employees who were graded Good from the marketing section.
Number of employees other than from the marketing section who were graded 'good' = 500 - 160 = 340
Required ratio = 400 : 340 = 20 : 17
Hence, the correct option is (c).
