A boat takes 6 hours to travel from A to B (upstream). The river flow...
Given data:
Time taken to travel from A to B (upstream) = 6 hours
Speed of river = 2 kmph
Distance between A and B = 36 km

Let the speed of the boat be x kmph.
Speed of the boat upstream = (x - 2) kmph
Speed of the boat downstream = (x + 2) kmph

Formula:
Distance = Speed x Time

Upstream journey:
Distance = 36 km
Speed = (x - 2) kmph
Time = 6 hours

Using the formula, we get:
36 = (x - 2) x 6
x - 2 = 6
x = 8 kmph

Downstream journey:
Distance = 36 km
Speed = (x + 2) kmph
Time = ?

Using the formula, we get:
36 = (x + 2) x time
time = 36 / (x + 2)
time = 36 / (8 + 2)
time = 3.6 hours

Therefore, the boat will take 3.6 hours to travel from B to A (downstream). Hence, option D is the correct answer.

A boat takes 6 hours to travel from A to B (upstream). The river flow...
Upstream
Let t be the time taken by the boat to travel from A to B = 6 hours
Let V1 be the speed of the boat traveling upstream = x
Let V2 be the speed of the stream = 2 kmph
Distance = 36 km
V1 - V2 = 36/6 = 6 kmph
V1 = 8 kmph
Downstream:
V1 = 8 kmph
V2 = 2 kmph
Net speed = V1 + V2 = 10 kmph
Distance = 36 km
Time = 36/10 = 3.6 hours
