In an engineering college, the percentage of B.Tech students who pursue MS, M.Tech, MBA and no higher education respectively are in an increasing Arithmetic Progression. Also, out of the students who pursue M.Tech, 25% take up teaching as their profession and out of the students who pursue MBA, 75% take up managerial roles as their profession. Let the total number of B. Tech students be 100.
Let M.S, MTech, MBA and no higher education students be a - 1.5d, a - 0.5d, a + 0.5d, and a + 1.5d respectively.
Since, their sum = 100, a = 100/4 = 25.
Hence,
MS = 25 - 1.5d
MTech = 25 - 0.5d
MBA = 25 + 0.5d
None = 25 + 1.5d
Teaching profession = 1/4 of MTech = 1/4(25-0.5d)
Managerial profession  = 3/4 MBA = 3/4(25 + 0.5d)
Difference = 16/100 x 100= 16.
Hence, solving d = 7
Hence, MS/No higher education = (25 - 10.5)/(25 + 10.5) = 14.5/35.5 = 29/71
