Verified Answer
Three persons Akbar, Birbal and Tansen invested in a business Rs. 10,0...
Total investment made by Akbar = 10,000 × 3 + 9,000 × 2 + 8,000 × 7
= 30,000 + 18,000 + 56,000 = 1,04,000
Total investment made by Birbal = 25,000 × 9 + 32,000 × 3
= 2,25,000 + 96,000 = 3,21,000
Total investment made by Tansen = P × 12
Total profit = 12,400
Share of Tansen in total profit

2,400 =
2,400 × 4,25,000 + 2,400 × 12P = 12,400 × 12P
2,400 × 4,25,000 = 10,000 × 12P
P =  = 8,500
So, initial investment made by Tansen = Rs. 8,500

Three persons Akbar, Birbal and Tansen invested in a business Rs. 10,0...
Let the initial investment made by Tansen be P.

Investment by Akbar = Rs. 10,000
Investment by Birbal = Rs. 25,000
Investment by Tansen = Rs. P

Akbar's withdrawal:
Akbar withdrew Rs. 1,000 after 3 months and Rs. 1,000 again after 5 months. So, the effective investment made by Akbar for the entire year is Rs. (10,000 - 1,000 - 1,000) = Rs. 8,000.

Birbal's additional investment:
Birbal invested Rs. 7,000 more than his initial investment after 9 months. So, his effective investment for the entire year is (25,000 + 7,000) = Rs. 32,000.

Tansen's investment:
Tansen maintained his capital for the whole year. So, his effective investment for the entire year is Rs. P.

Total investment for the year:
Total investment for the year = Akbar's investment + Birbal's investment + Tansen's investment
Total investment for the year = Rs. 8,000 + Rs. 32,000 + Rs. P

Profit distribution:
The total profit made at the end of the year is Rs. 12,400. Out of this, Tansen got Rs. 2,400 as his share.

Let's assume the ratio of profit distribution among Akbar, Birbal, and Tansen is x:y:z.

Tansen's share = (z/(x+y+z)) * Total profit
Rs. 2,400 = (z/(8,000 + 32,000 + P)) * 12,400

Simplifying the equation:
2,400 = (z/(40,000 + P)) * 12,400
2,400 = (z/(40,000 + P)) * 12,400
2,400 = z/(40,000 + P) * 12,400
z = (2,400 * (40,000 + P))/12,400
z = 8P/31

Since Tansen's share is Rs. 2,400, z = P.

Substituting the value of z in the equation:
P = (2,400 * (40,000 + P))/12,400

Simplifying the equation further:
12,400P = 2,400 * (40,000 + P)
12,400P = 96,000 + 2,400P
12,400P - 2,400P = 96,000
10,000P = 96,000
P = 96000/10000
P = 9.6

Therefore, the initial investment made by Tansen is Rs. 9,600 or Rs. 9,500 (approximately).
Hence, the correct answer is option C) Rs. 8,500.
