Calculation of Amount to be Returned

1. Total shares applied for:
- Total shares registered = 70,000
- Over-subscribed shares = 50,000
- Total shares applied for = 70,000 + 50,000 = 120,000

2. Shares Allotted:
- Shares allotted = 60,000 (prorata allotment)

3. Shares to be Returned:
- Shares not allotted = Total shares applied for - Shares allotted
- Shares not allotted = 120,000 - 60,000 = 60,000

4. Amount to be Returned:
- Amount to be returned per share = Rs. 10
- Amount to be returned per share = Rs. 10 * 60,000 = Rs. 6,00,000

Therefore, the amount to be returned to the applicants due to non-allotment of shares will be Rs. 6,00,000.
