Statement 1: It assesses the performance of school education system at the district level by creating an index for comprehensive analysis.
This statement is correct. The Performance Grading Index (PGI) for Districts is a tool developed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to assess and analyze the performance of the school education system at the district level. It aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of various parameters such as access, infrastructure, equity, governance processes, learning outcomes, and other relevant factors. The index helps identify areas for improvement and enables policymakers to make informed decisions about resource allocation and policy interventions.
Statement 2: The highest scoring districts are given Akanshi-3 grade for their overall performance.
This statement is incorrect. The highest scoring districts are not given an "Akanshi-3" grade. The Performance Grading Index categorizes districts into four levels: Grade I, Grade II, Grade III, and Grade IV. Grade I indicates the highest level of performance, followed by Grade II, Grade III, and Grade IV. There is no mention of the term "Akanshi-3" in the context of the Performance Grading Index.

The Performance Grading Index assesses the performance of the school education system at the district level by creating an index for comprehensive analysis. The highest scoring districts are categorized into Grade I, Grade II, Grade III, and Grade IV, and not "Akanshi-3".
