Restrictions on the choice of optional subjects for UPSC Mains

Introduction:
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination (CSE) for the recruitment of officers in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other central services. For instance, if a candidate chooses History as one optional subject and Sociology as another, there may be some overlapping topics like social history.
