Are there any changes in the CBSE Class 10 social studies examination ...
There have been some changes in the examination pattern of CBSE Class 10 Social Studies. Let's discuss them in detail:

Changes in the Examination Pattern:

1. Increased Internal Assessment Weightage: The internal assessment component of the Social Studies examination has been given more weightage. Previously, it had a weightage of 20 marks, but now it has been increased to 30 marks.

2. Reduced Number of Objective Type Questions: The number of objective type questions, such as multiple-choice questions (MCQs), fill in the blanks, etc., has been reduced. These questions used to carry a total of 20 marks, but now they have been reduced to 10 marks.

3. More Long Answer Type Questions: The number of long answer type questions has been increased. Previously, there were only two long answer type questions carrying 8 marks each. However, now there are three long answer type questions carrying 8 marks each.

4. Increased Choice in Questions: The question paper will now have more choices for students. This means that students will have options to choose from while attempting the questions. This will allow students to showcase their understanding and knowledge in a better way.

5. Map-Based Questions: The weightage for map-based questions has been increased. Previously, map questions carried 3 marks, but now they carry 5 marks. Students will have to identify and locate places on the map, label them correctly, and answer related questions.

6. Case Study: A new component called the 'Case Study' has been introduced in the Social Studies examination. This component will carry a weightage of 5 marks. Students will be provided with a case study, and they will have to analyze and answer questions based on it.

7. Overall Weightage: The total marks for the Social Studies examination remain the same, i.e., 80 marks. However, the distribution of marks across different sections and types of questions has been modified.

These changes in the examination pattern aim to assess students' conceptual understanding, analytical skills, and application of knowledge rather than rote memorization. It encourages students to think critically, develop problem-solving abilities, and demonstrate a deeper understanding of the subject.

These modifications will require students to adapt their preparation strategies and focus on developing a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, along with practicing map-based questions and analyzing case studies effectively.
