Helen first met Dr Alexander Graham Bell when she was six years old and her parents brought her to him for advice on how to teach her. From that first meeting, when Dr Bell suggested that they contact the Perkins institution for the Blind, he became a close fried to Helen. Later, he accompanied Helen and her teacher on a trip to the worlds fair and spent several days with them helping Helen explore and understand the many exhibits.As a child Helen understood Bell's tender deposition. She dedicated the story of her life to him. She also tells us that he was not only a marvelous man of science but also a man who had great love for deaf children and dedicated a large part of his life to help them overcome some of their difficulties.#hope this helps.
