They were called balutedars and their income, which was a share in the agricultural produce, was known as balutas. Balutedars also played an important part in the village council which will be discussed in the next section.The Balutedars were the counterparts of the Kamins of North India. However, compared to the kamins, their status was better off in the Deccan rural society. Hence option (b) is the correct answer.
