Explanation:

Cryogenic Engine Overview:
- Cryogenic engines are rocket engines that use liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as propellants.
- These engines are known for their high specific impulse, which means they are very efficient in terms of thrust produced per unit of propellant consumed.

Statement Analysis:
Statement 1: Cryogenic engines use liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as propellants.
- This statement is correct as cryogenic engines indeed use liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as propellants.
- Liquid oxygen serves as the oxidizer, while liquid hydrogen acts as the fuel in these engines.

Statement 2: They are usually prepared for the upper stages (last stage) of the rocket.
- This statement is also correct as cryogenic engines are typically used in the upper stages of a rocket.
- The reason for this is that cryogenic engines provide high thrust and efficiency, which is crucial for the final stage of a rocket's journey to space.

Conclusion:
Both statements 1 and 2 are correct. Cryogenic engines are advanced rocket engines that utilize liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as propellants and are commonly used in the upper stages of a rocket for their efficiency and high specific impulse.

With reference to the cryogenic engine, consider the following stateme...
A cryogenic engine/ cryogenic stage is the last stage of space launch vehicles which makes use of Cryogenics. Cryogenics is the study of the production and behaviour of materials at extremely low temperatures (below -150 degree Centigrade) to lift and place the heavier objects in space.
The cryogenic engine makes use of Liquid Oxygen (LOX) and Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) as propellants which liquefy at -183 deg C and -253 deg C respectively. LOX and LH2 are stored in their respective tanks. The major components of a cryogenic rocket engine are both its fuel and oxidizer are gases liquefied and stored at very low temperatures. Hence statement 1 is correct.
Hydrogen and oxygen are extremely clean fuels. When they combine, they give out only water. This water is thrown out of the nozzle in form of very hot vapour. Thus the rocket is nothing but a high burning steam engine.
Cryogenic engines are usually prepared for the ―upper stages" i.e. the last stage of the rocket because this stage provides 50% of the velocity of 10.2 km per second needed at the point of injection of a satellite. Hence statement 2 is correct.
