Why does the Torrid Zone receive maximum amount of heat?
  • A:
The mid day Sun is not exactly overhead at least once in a year on all latitude in between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.
  • B:
The mid day Sun is exactly overhead at least once in a year on frigid zone
  • C:
The mid day Sun is exactly overhead at least once in a year on all latitude in between the Arctic circle and Antarctic circle
  • D:
The mid day Sun is exactly overhead at least once in a year on all latitude in between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn
The answer is D.

Can you explain the answer of this question below:Why does the Torrid ...
Torrid zone recieves maximum amount of heat because it is near the equator and the sunlight is maximum at that place. Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn is known as the Torrid Zone. The mid-day Sun is exactly overhead at least once a year on all the latitudes in this area; therefore, this area receives maximum amount of heat.

Can you explain the answer of this question below:Why does the Torrid ...
Explanation:

The Torrid Zone, also known as the Tropics, refers to the region of the Earth that lies between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. This region receives the maximum amount of heat due to the following reasons:

1. The midday Sun is exactly overhead at least once in a year on all latitudes in between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn:
- The Earth is tilted on its axis by about 23.5 degrees. This tilt causes the Sun's rays to fall more directly on certain latitudes at different times of the year.
- As a result, the Sun is directly overhead at noon on different latitudes throughout the year, but it is only directly overhead at least once in a year on all latitudes in between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.
- When the Sun is directly overhead, the rays of sunlight are concentrated and spread over a smaller area, leading to a higher concentration of heat.

2. The angle of incidence of sunlight is smaller:
- The Torrid Zone is closer to the equator, which means that the angle of incidence of sunlight is smaller compared to higher latitudes.
- When the Sun's rays strike the Earth at a smaller angle, they have to pass through less atmosphere, which reduces the scattering and absorption of sunlight.
- This results in a higher intensity of solar radiation and more heat being received in the Torrid Zone.

3. Length of daytime is longer:
- The Torrid Zone experiences longer days compared to higher latitudes.
- The longer duration of sunlight exposure allows for more heating of the Earth's surface and atmosphere.

Overall, the combination of the Sun being directly overhead at least once in a year, the smaller angle of incidence of sunlight, and the longer duration of sunlight exposure contribute to the Torrid Zone receiving the maximum amount of heat.
