To become an IAS officer, one must be a citizen of India, have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university, and be between the ages of 21 and 32.
- Start by familiarizing yourself with the UPSC exam pattern and syllabus.
- Develop a study plan and stick to it consistently.
- Refer to NCERT books for basic concepts and current affairs magazines for updates.
- Register for the UPSC exam on the official website.
- Clear the Preliminary exam, followed by the Main exam and the Interview round.
Choose an optional subject that you are comfortable with and have a good understanding of. This will help in scoring well in the Main exam.
- Brush up on current affairs, government policies, and your optional subject.
- Practice mock interviews to improve your communication skills and confidence.
Ensure that you are physically fit as there are certain physical requirements for the IAS officer position.
If you clear all stages of the UPSC exam and the interview, you will be selected for the IAS training program at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.
- Complete the training program at the academy.
- Serve a probationary period as an Assistant Collector in a district.
Upon successful completion of the training and probation period, you will be appointed as an IAS officer by the government.
