- Profit percentage before increase = 25%
- Profit percentage after increase = 10%
- Increase in CP = Rs 60
- Increase in SP = Rs 30
Let's find the CP of the article:
Step 1: Calculate the initial CP and initial SP:
- Let the initial CP be x
- Initial SP = CP + 25% of CP = 1.25x
Step 2: Calculate the new CP and new SP after the increase:
- New CP = x + Rs 60
- New SP = 1.25x + Rs 30
Step 3: Calculate the profit after the increase:
- Profit after increase = New SP - New CP
- Profit after increase = (1.25x + 30) - (x + 60)
- Profit after increase = 1.25x + 30 - x - 60
- Profit after increase = 0.25x - 30
Step 4: Calculate the profit percentage after the increase:
- Profit percentage after increase = (Profit after increase / New CP) * 100
- 10 = (0.25x - 30 / x + 60) * 100
- 10 = 25x - 750 / 4x + 240
- 40x + 2400 = 25x - 750
- 15x = 3150
- x = 210
