The site of complete digestion of various components of food in the human alimentary canal is the small intestine.

Process of Digestion

Ingestion:
- The process of digestion begins with the intake of food through the mouth.

Mouth:
- In the mouth, food is chewed and mixed with saliva containing enzymes like amylase which starts the breakdown of carbohydrates.

Esophagus:
- The chewed food travels down the esophagus to the stomach through peristalsis.

Stomach:
- In the stomach, food mixes with gastric juices containing enzymes like pepsin which breaks down proteins.

Small Intestine:
- The partially digested food moves to the small intestine where it further breaks down with the help of enzymes from the pancreas (lipase, protease, amylase) and bile from the liver.

Large Intestine:
