Bus Movement in Positive and Negative Directions
- Position after 25min moving to the left:
- Given: Distance to the left represented by negative integer, rate of movement = 4m/min
- Distance moved to the left in 25 min = 4m/min * 25 min = 100m
- Position after 25 min = Initial position - Distance moved = X - 100m
- Position after 40min moving from a point 20m right to X:
- Given: Starting position = 20m right to X, rate of movement = 4m/min
- Distance moved to the right in 40 min = 4m/min * 40 min = 160m
- Final position from the initial point = Initial position + Distance moved = 20m + 160m = 180m right to X
Therefore, after 25 min of moving to the left, the bus will be 100m to the left of point X. And after starting 20m to the right of point X and moving right at 4m/min for 40 min, the bus will end up 180m to the right of point X.
