Given information:
Four fifth of a number exceed its three seventh by 26.

To find:
The number is?

Solution:

Let the number be x.

Equation:
4/5x - 3/7x = 26
28(4/5x) - 20(3/7x) = 26(140)
112x/5 - 60x/7 = 3640
(112*7x - 60*5x)/35 = 3640
(784x - 300x)/35 = 3640
484x/35 = 3640
484x = 35*3640

x = 127400/484
x = 263.22
