Panchayati Raj System Divisions:

1. Gram Panchayat:
- Gram Panchayat is the first and lowest level of the Panchayati Raj System.
- It is a local self-government body at the village level.
- The Gram Panchayat is responsible for providing basic civic amenities in the village such as water supply, street lighting, sanitation, etc.
- It consists of elected representatives from the village who are responsible for decision-making and governance at the grassroots level.
- The Sarpanch is the head of the Gram Panchayat.

2. Panchayat Samiti:
- Panchayat Samiti is the second level of the Panchayati Raj System.
- It is an intermediary level between the Gram Panchayat and the Zila Parishad.
- The Panchayat Samiti is responsible for coordinating the functioning of the Gram Panchayats in the block or tehsil.
- It consists of elected representatives from the Gram Panchayats within the block.
- The Pradhan is the head of the Panchayat Samiti.

3. Zila Parishad:
- Zila Parishad is the third and highest level of the Panchayati Raj System.
- It is responsible for overseeing the functioning of the Panchayat Samitis in the district.
- Zila Parishad is constituted by elected representatives from the Panchayat Samitis and nominated members.
- The Zila Parishad is headed by the Adhyaksha.
- Zila Parishad is responsible for planning and implementing various developmental programs in the district.
