(2)Now, multiply (1) by 2, we get2x + 2y = 6..
(3)Subtracting (3) from (2), 
we get5y−2y = 12−6⇒3y = 6⇒y = 2
Put the value of y in (1), 
we get
x + 2 = 3⇒x = 1
So, x1 = 1 and y1 = 2
