The sum of the ages of 3 persons is 150 years. 10 years ago their ages...
GIVEN

The sum of the ages of 3 persons is 150 years. 10 years ago their ages were in the ratio 7:8:9.

TO FIND

Their Present ages

SOLUTION

Let the ages of the person 10 yrs ago be 7x, 8x, 9x according to the question.

Present ages will be 7x + 108x+10 and 9x + 10

Now according to the Question,

(7x + 10) + (8x + 10) + (9x + 10) = 150

=> 24x + 30 = 150

=> 24x = 150 - 30

=> 24x = 120

=> x = 5

Therefore Present ages are

7x + 10 = 45yrs

8x+10 = 50yrs

9x + 10 = 55yrs

Hence their Present Ages are 45,50 and 55yrs. (ANS)

The sum of the ages of 3 persons is 150 years. 10 years ago their ages...
Given, the sum of the ages of 3 persons is 150 years.

Let the present ages of the three persons be a, b and c.

Then, a + b + c = 150 .......(1)

10 years ago, their ages were in the ratio 7:8:9.

So, 10 years ago, their ages were 7x, 8x and 9x respectively.

Sum of their ages 10 years ago = 7x + 8x + 9x = 24x

According to the question, 24x = 150 - 3*10 = 120

So, x = 5

Therefore, their ages 10 years ago were 35, 40 and 45.

Present ages can be found by adding 10 to each of the ages 10 years ago.

So, their present ages are 45, 50 and 55.

Hence, option A is the correct answer.
