Panchayati Raj System in India
The Panchayati Raj system is a three-tier local government structure in India. It was introduced to decentralize power and authority to the grassroots level and to provide people with a greater say in the governance process. The three levels of Panchayati Raj system are:

1. Gram Panchayat (Village Council)
2. Panchayat Samiti (Block Council)
3. Zila Parishad (District Council)

Role of Panchayat Samiti
The Panchayat Samiti is the intermediate level of the Panchayati Raj system. It is a block-level body that covers a group of villages. The following are the roles and responsibilities of Panchayat Samiti:

1. Planning and Implementation: The Panchayat Samiti is responsible for preparing plans for the development of the block and implementing them.

2. Resource Mobilization: The Panchayat Samiti is responsible for mobilizing resources for the development of the block.

3. Coordination: The Panchayat Samiti acts as a link between the Gram Panchayats and the Zila Parishad.

4. Supervision: The Panchayat Samiti supervises the functioning of Gram Panchayats in the block.

5. Monitoring: The Panchayat Samiti monitors the implementation of government schemes in the block.
