Akbar started a new religion called Din-i-Ilahi that preached respect ...
Din-i-Ilahi, or divine faith, that was a mix of things Akbar had liked in all religions. He had created this to unite his empire but he never forced anyone to join it.It could be relevant today as it can work as a weapon to unite people of Bharatvarsha, and there could be a strength in unity. Every religion respect other's religion, and there would be no comparison among people of different religions. Each person would understand about other's religion by following this faith, and there would be a feeling of respect or shraddha among them.
So, it is relevant today, and would become a great religion if each and every one would think to follow this faith and would spread across India.
This is my opinion that Akbar's dream to unite everyone would one day become true only because of the religion that was originally made by him.

Akbar's Din-i-Ilahi: A Religion of Respect for All
Din-i-Ilahi was a new religion established by Emperor Akbar during the Mughal Empire. The religion aimed to promote religious tolerance and harmony by incorporating elements from various religions. It emphasized respect for all religions and sought to create a universal understanding among people. While Din-i-Ilahi did not gain widespread popularity and eventually faded away after Akbar's death, its relevance can still be examined today.
1. Promoting Religious Tolerance
One of the key aspects of Din-i-Ilahi was its emphasis on religious tolerance. In a time when religious conflicts were prevalent, Akbar's vision of a religion that respected and incorporated different beliefs was revolutionary. This concept of religious tolerance remains significant today, particularly in a world where religious diversity is increasing and conflicts often arise due to religious differences. Din-i-Ilahi's message of respect for all religions can serve as a reminder of the importance of harmony and understanding among different faiths.
2. Encouraging Interfaith Dialogue
Din-i-Ilahi aimed to create a platform for interfaith dialogue, where followers could discuss and understand each other's beliefs. This practice is relevant today as it fosters mutual respect, empathy, and appreciation for different religious perspectives. Interfaith dialogue can help break down stereotypes, misconceptions, and prejudices, leading to a more inclusive and harmonious society.
3. Challenging Religious Fundamentalism
The establishment of Din-i-Ilahi challenged the prevailing religious fundamentalism of the time. By incorporating aspects from different religions, Akbar promoted an inclusive approach that went beyond rigid dogmas. Today, religious fundamentalism continues to be a significant issue in some parts of the world. Din-i-Ilahi's message can inspire individuals and communities to question and challenge extremist ideologies, promoting a more moderate and open-minded understanding of religion.
4. Emphasizing Unity
Din-i-Ilahi aimed to unite people of different faiths under a common belief system. This emphasis on unity is relevant today, especially in a globalized world where cultural and religious diversity is intertwined. By promoting unity, Din-i-Ilahi sought to transcend religious divisions and foster a sense of shared humanity. This message can encourage individuals and societies to embrace diversity and work towards a more inclusive and cohesive world.
In conclusion, while Din-i-Ilahi may not be actively practiced today, its principles and teachings hold relevance in the modern world. The promotion of religious tolerance, interfaith dialogue, challenging religious fundamentalism, and emphasizing unity are all important aspects that can contribute to creating a more harmonious and inclusive society. By understanding and appreciating the relevance of Akbar's Din-i-Ilahi, we can strive towards a world where respect for all religions is valued and practiced.
