4. B Horizon (Subsoil)

- This layer often has a higher clay content and a reddish or brownish color due to the presence of iron and aluminum oxides.
- The B horizon is less fertile than the A horizon and is less suitable for plant growth.

5. C Horizon (Parent Material)
- The C horizon, also known as the parent material, is the layer below the B horizon.
- It consists of partially weathered rock fragments and minerals.
- The C horizon is the source of mineral nutrients and influences the characteristics of the upper soil layers.
- It is relatively unaffected by biological activity and is less fertile compared to the horizons above.

6. R Horizon (Bedrock)
- The R horizon, or bedrock, is the deepest layer of soil.
- It consists of unweathered rock or consolidated material.
- The R horizon is not directly involved in plant growth, as the roots cannot penetrate it.
