The two main types of anaerobic respiration are alcoholic fermentation and lactic acid fermentation.

In alcoholic fermentation, glucose is converted into ethanol and carbon dioxide. This process is carried out by yeast and some bacteria. Alcoholic fermentation is used in the production of alcoholic beverages and bread-making.
