Give any two example to show that globalisation has affected our food ...
Globalisation has changed different aspects of the Indian society in the last two decades, including the food habit of the Indian people. Indians, currently in their late 30s, used to ask their parents to buy ‘jhal-muri’ or ‘mumphali’ for them during their childhood. Times have changed and multinational fast food chains become quite familiar with the younger generation. Now-a-days, the young people prefer burgers, hot dogs, fried chickens, momos etc. They like to hang out in decorative and air-conditioned environment with variety of foods on their plates, with the growing number of food restaurant chains offering different recipes at comparatively ‘cheaper’ rates. The changing scenario has not only helped the food and beverage (F&B) industry strengthen its position in the Indian market, but also created job opportunities for a huge number of people. It has further allowed producers to get the right price for their food grains. It seems that a country like India, which is heavily dependent on the agriculture sector, is the ideal place for the F&B industry to boom.

Give any two example to show that globalisation has affected our food ...
Introduction:
Globalisation refers to the increasing interconnectedness and interdependence of countries through the exchange of goods, services, information, and ideas. It has had a significant impact on various aspects of our lives, including our food habits. In this response, we will discuss two examples that illustrate how globalisation has affected our food habits.

Example 1: Introduction of Fast Food
One of the prominent ways in which globalisation has influenced our food habits is through the introduction and spread of fast food chains. Fast food giants like McDonald's, KFC, and Burger King have successfully expanded their operations worldwide, making their products easily accessible in numerous countries. This has led to a shift in dietary preferences, especially among the younger generation.

Effects:
1. Cultural Homogenization: The widespread availability of fast food has led to a certain level of cultural homogenization, where similar food choices are observed across different countries. This can be seen in the popularity of hamburgers, french fries, and pizzas, which have become ubiquitous in many parts of the world.

2. Health Concerns: The rise of fast food has also raised concerns about its impact on public health. These foods are often high in calories, unhealthy fats, and sugar, leading to an increased risk of obesity, diabetes, and other diet-related diseases. The global spread of fast food has contributed to the global rise in these health issues.

3. Economic Impact: The expansion of fast food chains has created employment opportunities in various countries, but it has also led to the displacement of local food businesses. Small-scale eateries and street food vendors often struggle to compete with the marketing and advertising power of multinational fast food corporations.

Example 2: Availability of Exotic Foods
Globalisation has made it easier to access a wide range of exotic foods that were once limited to specific regions or countries. This has significantly influenced our food habits by introducing new ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques from different parts of the world.

Effects:
1. Diversification of Palate: Globalisation has expanded our culinary horizons, allowing us to explore and incorporate diverse flavors into our diets. People now have access to ingredients and dishes from various cuisines, such as sushi, Thai curry, or Mexican tacos, enriching their culinary experiences.

2. Increased Demand for Imported Foods: The availability of exotic foods has led to an increased demand for imported goods. Whether it's spices, fruits, or specialty ingredients, consumers are now more willing to purchase goods from different countries, contributing to international trade and the growth of the global food market.

3. Environmental Concerns: The increased demand for exotic foods has raised concerns about the environmental impact of long-distance transportation. The transportation of food over long distances requires significant energy consumption and contributes to carbon emissions, thereby contributing to climate change.

Conclusion:
Globalisation has indeed influenced our food habits in several ways. The introduction of fast food chains has led to a shift in dietary preferences and health concerns, while the availability of exotic foods has diversified our palate and increased demand for imported goods. It is essential to understand and critically evaluate these changes to ensure a healthy and sustainable food culture in the era of globalisation.
