Yes, there can be benefits..

The thin layer of aluminum oxide corrosion on aluminum protects the aluminum from further corrosion.

It will even allow aluminum to resist nitric acid because nitric acid is a very strong oxidizer that actually strengthens the corrosion coating.

Other acids dissolve aluminum easily because they also dissolve aluminum oxide.

As all students claimed and answered,, I am just adding by saying that,,,, corrosion of iron,, gives a soft porous substance Fe2O3  which r usually used in laboratories and for taking information for making medicines,,,, tetanus is one the invented medicine

No the corrosion is Not veRy haRmfuL all the time. it maY be useFul also.
example= as you see a electric poles on the streets are corrode due to oxygen or watEr (during the rain or the moisture) as you know
but nothing was done to prevent them from corrosion because to prevent inner layers of poles from getting corrode.
