Helen Keller :

Helen Keller is the main character of of the novel The Story of my Life and it is the autobiography of her first twenty years of life that we have been presented with through the book. She was born on June 27 1880 in Alabam, Tuscumbia, USA. She lost her eyesight when she was only 19 months old. Despite her disabilities shattered her she achieved a lot in her life with the help of her will power and determination.

Despite her disabilities she shared a lot of character traits with the children of her age group. She was curious to know and learn about the things around her. She was jealous of her little sister and thought her as an intruder in their mother's love. She did not want to take help from others.

Miss Anne Sullivan :

Miss Sullivan was the instructor of Helen sent form the Perkins Institution of Blind. She was sent to teach Helen who was blind and deaf. Being a teacher she is tolerant with Helen. She understood what Helen wants and accordingly taught her to communicate with the people around her. She made her confident by making her independent.

A teacher like her is not only a guiding force for Helen but also a true friend, a companion and a mother-like figure.
