A freight train left Delhi for Mumbai at an average speed of 40 km/hr....
Given data:
Average speed of freight train from Delhi to Mumbai = 40 km/hr
Average speed of express train from Delhi to Mumbai = 60 km/hr
Time gap between the departure of two trains = 2 hours

To find:
Distance from Delhi where the express train meets the freight train

Solution:
Let's assume that the distance from Delhi where the express train meets the freight train is 'x' km.

Time taken by the freight train to cover the distance 'x' = x/40 hours
As per the given condition, the express train starts 2 hours later than the freight train. Therefore, the time taken by the express train to cover the same distance 'x' = (x/60)-2 hours

As both the trains are moving towards each other, the sum of their distances covered will be equal to the total distance between Delhi and Mumbai.

Total distance between Delhi and Mumbai = Distance travelled by the freight train + Distance travelled by the express train
Or, x = (x/40) + (x/60)-2
Or, x = 240 km

Therefore, the express train will meet the freight train at a distance of 240 km from Delhi.

Hence, the correct answer is option (c) 240 km.
