CLAT Exam is the entrance exam for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs offered by 24 National Law Universities in India. CLAT Exam is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities and is used by affiliate universities and organizations for admissions and recruitment.

What are CLAT participating Institutes?

CLAT participating institutes are the National Law Universities (NLUs) and other affiliated law colleges in India that accept scores from the CLAT exam for admission to their law programs. The Consortium of NLUs has signed MoUs with 24 National Law Universities and 61 public and private law colleges across the country to admit students based on their CLAT scores. 

Generally, three types of participating institutes in India will accept CLAT Exam 2023  scores and admit students to UG and PG courses.

  2. Law colleges affiliated with CLAT 2023
  3. Private Law Colleges

CLAT 2023 Participating NLUs & Seats

Following consultation with the Consortium of National Law Universities, National Law University, Tripura ("NLU, Tripura") has decided that it will not participate in the admissions counseling process for the 2023-2024 academic year. 

  • As a result, candidates should be aware that NLU, Tripura should be removed from their list of preferred institutions during the admissions counseling process.
  • Except for National Law University (NLU), Delhi, and NLU Tripura all other NLUs accept the CLAT scores for admission to its colleges. NLU, Delhi conducts a separate exam known as the All India Entrance Test (AILET).

CLAT 2023 Participating NLUs Offering LLM Programme

A total of 20 NLUs offer LLM programmes to candidates in different disciplines. Admission to NLUs under CLAT is conducted through CLAT PG entrance examination. Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) Patna and National Law University, Delhi conduct separate law entrance tests (AIELT) for LLM admission and do not comes under the CLAT NLU list. Meanwhile, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat does not offer an LLM programme. Check the NLU list 2023 for LLM programme below:
