Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Poland's highest honour

Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has been honored with the Order of the White Eagle, Poland's highest distinction, for his remarkable services to security, resilience, and the defense of human rights. The award was presented by Poland's president, Andrzej Duda, who praised Zelensky as an exceptional leader and a model of state and national leadership. The Order of the White Eagle is the oldest and highest decoration in Poland, awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the country, both in civil and military spheres.

Amit Shah Unveils 54 Feet Hanuman Statue In Gujarat

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a majestic 54 feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman at the Sarangpur temple in Gujarat's Botad district on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The statue, built in the temple's backyard spanning an area of 1,35,000 square feet, is dedicated to Lord Kastbhanjan, a form of Hanuman. 
Weighing around 30,000 kilograms, the statue is visible from a distance of seven kilometers. It is constructed using a combination of five different metals and has been designed to withstand earthquakes. The internal structure is made of steel, and advanced technologies like 3D printers, 3D routers, and CNC machines were employed in its construction.

Kerala tops GI tag list in FY 2022-23

Kerala has emerged as the leading state in India in terms of securing the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for its products in the financial year 2022-23. According to data released by the GI Registry, six products from Kerala, namely Attappady Aattukombu Avara, Attappady Thuvara, Onattukara Ellu, Kanthaloor Vattavada Veluthuli, and Kodungallur Pottuvellari, have received the prestigious GI recognition. 
Bihar's Mithila Makhana, Maharashtra's Alibag white onion, Telangana's Tandur Redgram, Ladakh's Ladakh Raktsey Karpo Apricot, and Assam's Gamosa handicrafts also received the GI recognition. Geographical Indication signifies that a particular product originates from a specific region and possesses unique qualities associated with that area.

MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh among 5 Indian cricketers to be awarded MCC lifetime membership

Five distinguished Indian cricketers, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Mithali Raj, and Jhulan Goswami, have been granted lifetime membership in the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). The MCC, the authority responsible for defining the laws of cricket, has named a total of 19 new Honorary Life Members, representing eight Test-playing nations. 
The recognition is bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to the game. MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh played crucial roles in India's victories in the 2007 ICC Men's World T20 and the 2011 ICC Men's World Cup, while Suresh Raina had a successful ODI career spanning 13 years. Mithali Raj holds the record for the highest run-scorer in Women's ODIs, and Jhulan Goswami is the leading wicket-taker in Women's ODIs.

Seshagiri Rao retires, steps down from JSW Steel board after 24 years

Seshagiri Rao, joint managing director and group chief financial officer (CFO) of JSW Steel, has retired from the board after serving for 24 years. Rao, who superannuated from the services of the company, stepped down as a wholetime director with effect from April 6.
However, he will continue to be associated with the group in an advisory role and as the 'Group CFO.' Seshagiri Rao's retirement marks the end of a long and successful tenure, during which he played a vital role in the financial management of JSW Steel.

BJP Foundation Day 

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is celebrating its 43rd Foundation Day on April 6. The BJP has emerged as the largest political party in the world since its establishment in 1980, with a significant presence in terms of MPs, MLAs, and councillors across the country. The party's journey has been marked by remarkable growth, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that it started with just two Lok Sabha seats and reached 303 seats in 2019. The BJP is now considered the only pan-India party, with a strong presence in every corner of the country. The ideological origins of the BJP can be traced back to the formation of the Bhartiya Jana Sangh (BJS) in 1951 by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, in collaboration with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The BJS aimed to preserve Hindu identity and culture.

International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

The United Nations General Assembly has designated April 6 as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace since 2013. This day celebrates the significant contribution of sports and physical activity to education, human development, healthy lifestyles, and peace.
Sport has the power to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding, transcending boundaries, cultures, and religions. Its core values of teamwork, fairness, discipline, and respect can be utilized to foster solidarity and social cohesion. Sport has historically played a vital role in societies, be it in the form of competitive sports, physical activity, or play.
The United Nations recognizes sport as a crucial tool for humanitarian, development, and peace-building efforts. The theme for the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace in 2023 is "Scoring for People and the Planet," emphasizing the positive impact of sports on individuals and the environment.

Adani Green Receives 'Platinum Award' For Positive Impact On Environment

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), the renewable arm of the Adani Group, has been honored with the 'Platinum Award' at the Grow Care India Environment Management Awards 2022. The prestigious award recognizes AGEL's outstanding contributions, commitments, and actions that have a positive impact on the environment. 
The award was conferred by the Minister of State for Rural Development, Faggan Singh Kulaste. Grow Care India is a non-profit organization dedicated to acknowledging and honoring remarkable performance in environment management, occupational health and safety, human resources, risk management, innovation, corporate ethics, and eco-innovation. The recognition highlights AGEL's significant efforts in environmental management and its commitment to sustainable practices.

India-Nepal to sign pact to help travelers make digital payments with Indian e-wallets

India and Nepal are set to sign an agreement that will enable tourists traveling between the two countries to make digital payments using Indian e-wallets. The initiative aims to facilitate tourism and trade by eliminating the need for carrying physical currency. Tourists from both countries will be able to make digital payments by scanning quick response (QR) codes using popular Indian e-wallets such as BharatPe, PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm.
The agreement, which was already agreed upon a year ago, is awaiting signatures from officials of both countries, including Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda.' The use of QR codes for transactions will not only simplify payment processes but also promote business interactions between India and Nepal.

RBI keeps repo rate unchanged at 6.5% 

The Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) monetary policy committee (MPC) has decided to maintain the policy repo rate at 6.50%. The committee unanimously agreed on the unchanged rate, with a readiness to take appropriate action if the situation demands.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das clarified that the pause on the repo rate hike was only for this meeting and emphasized the need to withdraw accommodation gradually. The repo rate is the rate at which the central bank lends money to commercial banks, influencing inflation and money supply in the economy. The decision to keep the repo rate unchanged indicates the RBI's cautious approach towards managing inflation and economic growth.
