The villi and microvilli provide a large surface area for efficient absorption of nutrients.

Ans. The pancreas plays a crucial role in digestion and absorption. It produces digestive enzymes that are released into the small intestine to break down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The pancreas also produces bicarbonate ions, which neutralize the acidic chyme from the stomach, creating an optimal pH for the action of digestive enzymes in the small intestine.

Ans. The liver plays a vital role in digestion and absorption. It produces bile, which is stored in the gallbladder and released into the small intestine. Bile helps in the digestion and absorption of fats. It emulsifies large fat globules into smaller droplets, increasing their surface area and making it easier for enzymes to break them down. Bile also aids in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Additionally, the liver detoxifies harmful substances and metabolizes nutrients before they enter the general circulation.
