India Hosts ITU FG-AINN Meeting to Advance AI-Native Telecom Networks

Context

• Event: Third Meeting of the ITU-T Focus Group on AI-Native for Telecommunication Networks (FG-AINN).
• Host: Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India.
• Dates: June 11–13, 2025.
• Location: New Delhi, India.
• Key Initiative Launched: Build-a-Thon 2025 aimed at developing AI-native network solutions.

Core Objectives

• Promote the integration of AI-native architecture in telecom networks.
• Facilitate intelligent automation, self-management, and real-time optimization of telecom systems.
• Discuss advanced topics such as federated learning, 6G use cases, and AI/ML-driven innovations in the telecom sector.
• Set the stage for standard-setting discussions regarding future intelligent networks.

India’s Role & Proposals

• India’s Proactive Role: Highlighted national initiatives like Bharat Gen, the country’s first government-funded multimodal large language model (LLM).

Build-a-Thon 2025

• Format: Crowdsourced and collaborative coding and design challenge.

• Aim: To co-create practical AI-native telecom solutions addressing real-world challenges.
