Introduction to the Prime Minister of India
The Prime Minister (PM) is 
the head of the 
government and the real 
executive authority in 
India.
Though the President is 
the nominal head (de jure 
executive), the PM holds 
actual power (de facto 
executive).
India's government is 
often called a "Prime 
Ministerial Government" 
because of the PM's 
central role.

PM must prove majority support in Lok Sabha 
within a month
Membership Requirement
PM can be from Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha; 
must become MP within 6 months if not 
already
